In-Person:Monday November 1, 2021 from 4:00-8:00pm The Broadway Collective - 733 Broadway Ave Saskatoon, SK Pre-registration begins Thursday October 28 at 4:00pm using the link below. Walk-in sessions will also be available. Masks and proof of COVID-19 vaccination or negative test will be required for entry. November is Adoption Awareness month and The Adoption Support Centre of Saskatchewan is kicking it off with The Human Library.
A Human Library is a way for people to reach out and connect with individuals in their community that they might not normally engage with. Visitors to our library have an opportunity to borrow Human Books for 15 minutes in which they will engage in a meaningful conversation – where tough questions are expected and encouraged. Human Libraries promote tolerance, break down prejudice and celebrate differences and encourage understanding of people who have may have different life experiences or come from different backgrounds. Our collection of Human Books has a common theme based around permanency and adoption. Adoption has changed profoundly throughout the years, yet many myths and misunderstandings still exist around the impact of adoption. We believe that a Human Library is the perfect way to challenge negative stereotypes and empower people with an adoption connection to have their voices heard.

The Great Saskatchewan Pitch Marathon has arrived! There are no prizes. No awards. No judges. Just entrepreneurs pitching to the community, showcasing their innovations and seeing how members of the audience can help them grow. It's an opportunity to share all of the exciting things you have accomplished with your peers. It's an opportunity to show support for your fellow entrepreneurs. It's a chance to show our politicians, policy makers and the world that Saskatchewan is a hell of a lot more than oil, gas, and potash! It's a celebration of our amazing province's startups. This event will be running in parallel with the Great Alberta Pitch Marathon - it’s going to be a prairie-wide startup celebration for the ages! Our friends in Alberta organized a similar event last year and here’s what one participant had to say: “It felt like there was such powerful community support behind it and it was wonderful to get cross-pollination and interest across cities (I got follow ups from all the way on the other side of the country!)” —Emily Craven, Founder and CEO of Story City So be a part of the action, sign up to pitch, invite your friends and come out to the afterparties! Pitch length: 3 mins Date: Aug 19, 2021 Time: 9am – 6pm Location: a massive Zoom call with in-person afterparties in both YXE and YQR Don’t miss out on this great opportunity! Legacy One hosted a one-week Arts Camp for young artists to grow in their art form + develop their unique voice as an artist. They focused on Spoken Word Poetry, Songwriting + Music Productions.
It was an amazing week, which ended with a showcase of the students' original pieces they created throughout the week! We are excited to share BDNT Media's announcement that Standing has been nominated for Best Web Series/TV Pilot at the Independent Shorts Awards in Los Angeles!
Haven't seen the series yet?! Much of it was filmed in our underground space! Check it out at the link below: https://youtu.be/z35nwLBAOZ8

Saskatoon musician Katelyn Lehner’s latest single “Without You” has become the second most downloaded country song in Canada.
She says it was a surprise when she received an email telling her the good news from tech company Yangaroo on June 2. “It had only been released to Canadian country radio for three days at that point so it was definitely surprising and I had to read over the email a couple times until I kind of figured out that I actually was the second most downloaded song,” Lehner told CTV News. She wrote “Without You” in 2019 and with the help of a co-writer and producer released it at the end of May. The 26-year-old says the success of her second single is starting to “snowball” her music career and hopes it’ll show people she’s in it for the long haul. PUTTING SASK. ON THE MAP Lehner is from Prince Albert and says she’s been a fan of country music for a long time but considers herself more a “country-pop” artist. She is looking at increasing her team with hopes of getting a record deal. Lehner says it’s exciting to represent her province. “I’m happy to put our name on the map and it’ll be exciting to start going and travelling around to other provinces and say I’m from Saskatchewan.” When Lehner isn’t writing songs she’s sprinting hurdles on the Running Wild Athletics Club in Saskatoon. “I like to be busy so I just try to schedule things out as best as I can and you know having a good support system with me when I need to.” Once the pandemic is over, Lehner says she’s looking forward to performing in person again after doing virtual shows for the past year. “I cannot wait to be able to get outside with a crowd of real people and you know face to face interaction and get to be on the stage with a full band,” she said. With the success of her song, Lehner says she’s preparing to release a live performance video and a lyric video. “Now that restrictions are opening up here in the province I’m kind of in the middle of planning an outdoor show.”
